How Honen works with Workday Learning

Keep Workday Learning for enrollment and learning records. Build the course in Honen, then add its live SCORM package as a media lesson in a Workday course. Workday supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, 2nd through 4th Editions. You do not need to move learners to a new LMS.

Connect a course in three steps

  1. Build and approve the course in Honen. Choose SCORM 1.2 or a SCORM 2004 edition that your Workday team has tested.
  2. Export the Honen ZIP. In Workday Learning, add the package as a media lesson in a digital or blended course. Your administrator must enable packaged content in the tenant. Workday also supports Drive and Media Importer upload routes. Read Workday's setup guidance.
  3. Launch the course as a learner. Check completion, score, and resume behavior before assignment.

Workday does not allow a SCORM package as a stand-alone lesson. The standard Learning file picker and Drive routes allow ZIP files up to 4 GB; Workday documents a larger limit for Media Importer. Confirm your tenant's limits before a bulk upload.

Build and revise courses with AI

Give Honen approved documents, slides, or video. Use the draft to create lessons, checks, and a tutor experience. Then have a course owner review facts, images, assessment answers, and policy language. This is useful for an HR team that has source material but little time for manual authoring.

For technical procedures, ask for short, direct sentences and one action per instruction. Use the same term for the same part each time. Honen can help draft and review this controlled-language style. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, ASD-STE100 rules, and domain terms. The draft has no automatic ASD-STE100 compliance score or certification.

Update one course without a new ZIP

Honen's thin SCORM package loads current course content when a learner opens it. Publish an approved edit in Honen and later launches see it without another Workday ZIP upload. Re-test material changes before release. A learner in an existing session may need to relaunch to see the change. See how live SCORM packages work.

Tutor and reporting

The Honen tutor runs inside the launched course. Test the launch in your tenant to confirm the learner's sign-in experience. While the course is open, SCORM can report completion, pass or fail, score, time, and resume data. Workday tracks package status and summary assessment data. The exact record depends on the package, course settings, and learner action. SCORM does not send server-to-server grades after the learner closes the course.

Use Workday for assignment and completion records. Use Honen to examine progress and topic mastery inside the course. If your organization has a separate learning record store, assess Honen xAPI forwarding as a separate setup. Do not assume Workday Learning accepts cmi5 or xAPI packages.

Common questions

Does Workday Learning accept SCORM 2004?

Yes. Workday documents the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Editions. Test the exact edition in your tenant before rollout.

Can I upload the Honen ZIP as a stand-alone lesson?

No. Workday says packaged content belongs in a media lesson within a course.

Do course edits require another upload?

Honen's live package loads current content on a new launch. Review and test each material edit before learners see it.

Will Workday receive a score after the learner exits?

No. The SCORM browser session sends tracking data while the course is open. Check the recorded result after the test learner exits.

Does Honen make a course ASD-STE100 compliant?

Honen helps draft clear content. A qualified editor must review controlled vocabulary, rules, and technical terms.
