How Honen works with Skilljar
Keep Skilljar as your training site. Use Honen to build a course and its AI tutor, then deliver it to Skilljar as a SCORM or cmi5 package. LTI 1.3 is a separate manual, launch-only option for Honen content.
Choose the right path

Skilljar supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 3rd and 4th Editions without sequencing rules. It also supports cmi5 packages as lessons. Skilljar documents LTI 1.3 lesson setup.
| Need | Honen route to Skilljar | Check before release |
|---|---|---|
| Established lesson tracking | SCORM 1.2 or 2004 ZIP | Completion policy, score, resume, browser launch |
| cmi5 statement flow | cmi5 ZIP | Tenant support, launch, LRS result |
| Secure launch without a package | LTI 1.3 manual registration | Launch and learner identity; no Honen grade or roster service on this Skilljar path |
Start with SCORM when you need a Skilljar lesson result and a simple package workflow. Use cmi5 after a tenant test confirms the package and reporting. Choose LTI only when a launch is sufficient. Honen's Skilljar LTI configuration does not provide dynamic registration, Deep Linking, AGS grade passback, or NRPS roster sync.
Build a course with AI

Add a current policy, product document, slide deck, or video to Honen. Draft lessons, practice activities, and a course-specific AI tutor. A subject expert must check facts, examples, and answer keys. Publish the reviewed course before you export a package.
Write clear source content
Use one term for one item. Write short sentences in active voice. Put one action in each step. Honen can help draft and review this controlled-language style for content delivered in Skilljar. These practices draw from ASD-STE100, but they do not prove conformity. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, rules, and domain terms.
Publish and update the lesson
For SCORM, export a ZIP from Honen and use Skilljar's documented SCORM/Web Package lesson flow. Honen's package is designed to load current course content. Test its hosted launch in your Skilljar site before you rely on content edits appearing without a new ZIP. A change to package settings can require a fresh export. Learners need network access to Honen; the ZIP is not an offline course copy.
SCORM results move through the browser while the course is open. Skilljar can record SCORM lesson data and scores when the package is configured to report them. Honen keeps its own activity and mastery view. Do not assume that a launch-only LTI lesson sends a Skilljar score.
Questions teams ask
Does Skilljar accept a Honen SCORM 2004 package?
Skilljar documents support for 2004 4th Edition without sequencing rules, which matches Honen's 2004 export edition. Test the package in your training site.
Is cmi5 the same as general xAPI support?
No. Skilljar says its package import supports the cmi5 profile. Use a cmi5 ZIP and test the statement result; do not assume it accepts every xAPI package profile.
Does Honen LTI 1.3 send Skilljar grades?
No grade passback is configured for the Honen Skilljar LTI path. Use SCORM or tested cmi5 when the Skilljar lesson needs completion or score data.
Does a content edit need a new ZIP?
The Honen thin package can load current course content after a text edit. First test the hosted launch and the revised lesson in your Skilljar site. A package-setting change can require a new ZIP. Review version effects for learners in progress.
Can the AI tutor run in Skilljar?
The tutor is part of the Honen course that the package or LTI lesson launches. Test the embedded view or full-window launch in your tenant.
