SCORM authoring tool for Skilljar

Use Honen to author and update a course that Skilljar runs as a SCORM lesson. Honen works with Skilljar through SCORM 1.2 or 2004 4th Edition packages. Skilljar documents both versions.

Choose the package version

Skilljar supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 3rd or 4th Edition, without sequencing rules. Honen exports SCORM 1.2 and 2004 4th Edition. Start with 1.2 if your team has no tested 2004 requirement. Use 2004 after you confirm that its reporting fields and lesson behavior match your site.

Set the Honen reporting policy before export. Test completion, pass or fail, score, session time, and resume as applicable. Skilljar says SCORM lesson analytics depend on settings in the content package.

The table compares package designs. It does not claim that all other authoring tools use self-contained ZIPs. Test the hosted Honen ZIP in Skilljar; SCORM import support alone does not verify a live launch.

Author, upload, and test

  1. Draft a course from current source material in Honen.
  2. Review facts, examples, and assessment answers.
  3. Review language for one term per item and one action per step.
  4. Publish the course and export a SCORM ZIP.
  5. Upload it to Skilljar as a SCORM/Web Package lesson.
  6. Launch it as a test learner and inspect the lesson result.

Honen can help draft and review controlled language based on useful ASD-STE100 practices. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, rules, and domain terms. Export does not prove conformity.

Skilljar's upload guide documents the lesson workflow and display settings. SCORM grades cannot arrive after the learner closes the course.
