Skilljar learning analytics with Honen courses

Use Skilljar for lesson and customer training records, and use Honen to inspect activity and mastery inside the course. The result Skilljar receives depends on the delivery path. See Honen with Skilljar before you set a reporting policy.

Skilljar documents SCORM lesson data and scores. It documents cmi5 lesson tracking. Skilljar's LTI article discusses LTI lessons, but the Honen Skilljar LTI configuration does not enable grade passback. Do not infer a score from a successful LTI launch.

Use Honen for a closer learning view

Honen keeps course activity and mastery details. For example, if customers finish an onboarding lesson but miss the same setup step, review the relevant Honen activity and revise the instruction. Skilljar can remain the record of the lesson result while Honen helps explain where the course needs work.

Run a reporting test

  1. Assign one test lesson in Skilljar.
  2. Launch it as a learner.
  3. Complete one activity and check resume.
  4. Finish the lesson under the selected reporting policy.
  5. Compare Skilljar's result with Honen's activity view.

Keep the SCORM lesson open until its final result is written. For cmi5, inspect the statements and Skilljar lesson state in the test tenant. Do not assume the same fields arrive through every path.

Clear source text helps make these results useful. Use short active sentences, one term for one item, and one action per instruction. Honen can help draft and review this controlled-language style. A qualified editor must check ASD-STE100 rules, the approved dictionary, and domain terms; analytics cannot prove conformity.
