How Honen works with Oracle Learning
Keep Oracle Learning for assignments and records. Build a course in Honen, then add it to Oracle Learning as SCORM. A tenant with the 26A self-paced learning feature can also use cmi5 after its administrator enables the required experience. Oracle announced cmi5 support in 26A. Check your tenant before choosing that route.
Choose a format
SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 are documented upload formats for self-paced learning. Choose an edition and completion rule that your tenant has tested. Oracle's 25D release notes list both SCORM formats and a 2 GB upload limit for the newer self-paced interface. Older content-resource routes can have different limits; use the limit shown in your tenant.
For cmi5, enable self-paced learning and confirm 26A feature availability. Oracle imports a cmi5 ZIP in the same workflow as SCORM. Its cmi5 feature guide describes completion criteria, statements, and external assignable-unit URLs. Test a Honen package before assigning learners.
Build and review the course
Give Honen approved documents, slides, or video. Draft lessons, checks, and a tutor experience. Then check each fact, example, warning, and answer. Write short, active instructions. Use one action per step and one term for each item.
Honen can help draft and review this controlled-language style. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, ASD-STE100 rules, and domain terms.
Update and measure learning
Honen's thin SCORM package loads current approved content on a new launch, so a content revision need not require a new ZIP. Re-test a material edit. SCORM can report completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume while the browser course is open. It does not send server-to-server grades after exit.
The cmi5 package can send initialized, completed, passed or failed, and terminated statements through its launch session to Oracle Learning's learning record store when the feature is enabled. Oracle's completion result depends on the configured MoveOn rule and package behavior. Use Oracle for the assignment record and Honen for course-level progress and mastery review. Treat forwarding Honen xAPI to a separate customer LRS as a separate setup.
