How Honen works with D2L Brightspace

Keep D2L Brightspace for course access and records. Build and revise learning content in Honen, then add a Brightspace launch through a configured LTI 1.3 tool or a SCORM package. Discuss your setup with Honen.

SCORM support alone does not verify Honen's hosted launcher in Brightspace. Test the exact ZIP, learner launch, and result in your site before rollout.

Choose LTI 1.3 or SCORM

Brightspace supports LTI Advantage, including launch, Assignment and Grades Services (AGS), Names and Roles Provisioning Services (NRPS), and Deep Linking. An administrator must register and deploy the tool and enable the needed services. Honen can provision learners from verified launches and map a Brightspace context to a Honen group. Roster sync and grade return depend on the enabled services and actual launch data.

Brightspace also supports SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Use a Honen SCORM ZIP if your institution prefers package delivery. The new SCORM solution requires Content Service; sites that use the legacy solution have another upload workflow.

Build and review learning content

Give Honen approved documents, slides, and other source material. Draft a course with lessons and checks. Review every fact and assessment answer. Honen can help draft and review controlled-language content inspired by ASD-STE100. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, rules, and domain terms.

Update a live package

A Honen SCORM ZIP is a thin launcher. Change the course content in Honen, and the package already in Brightspace loads the current course on the next launch. Re-export if package settings change. SCORM reports completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume data through the browser while the course is open.

Tutor and results

The Honen tutor runs in the launched course. Test it with a learner account in the selected Brightspace view. An LTI launch can be embedded or opened in a new window, depending on deployment and browser behavior.

With compatible AGS, Honen can post completion or pass/fail results to a grade item. Progress percentage is coarse; a test-grade setting does not have a per-course score wired. Brightspace lets administrators select LTI extensions, so verify the services in your tenant. Honen keeps its own course progress view.

Questions teams ask

Does Brightspace accept SCORM 2004?

Yes. D2L documents SCORM 1.2 and 2004 support. Confirm which SCORM solution your institution uses before following upload steps.

Can Honen return grades to Brightspace?

AGS can return supported Honen completion or pass/fail results when the LTI registration, deployment, and grade item permit it. SCORM reports through the open browser session. Test the chosen route.

Will a Honen content edit require a new ZIP?

If your Brightspace tenant passes the hosted-package pilot, the existing launcher loads current Honen content. Re-export if you change package settings.

Which Brightspace SCORM upload steps apply?

Check whether your site uses the new SCORM solution or the legacy solution. The new solution requires Content Service. Follow the matching Brightspace workflow and test the result.
