How Honen works with Blackboard Learn

Keep Blackboard Learn for courses and learner records. Build and update training in Honen, then give learners a Blackboard launch through a configured LTI 1.3 tool or a SCORM package. Talk with Honen about your setup.

SCORM support alone does not verify Honen's hosted launcher in Blackboard Learn. Test the exact ZIP, learner launch, and result in your site before rollout.

An administrator can register an LTI 1.3 tool and configure its placements. Use this route when the institution permits Honen as a tool and the needed LTI services. A verified launch can create the learner's Honen account and map the Blackboard course to a Honen group. Grade return needs the appropriate grading service and placement. Roster access needs membership service permission.

Blackboard also accepts SCORM packages when the institution enables its SCORM Engine. That engine supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 4th Edition. Use this route when a course owner needs a package in Course Content.

Build and review the course

Add approved documents, slides, and other source material to Honen. Draft lessons, activities, and checks. Check every fact, link, answer, and access requirement before release. Honen can help teams draft and review controlled-language content inspired by ASD-STE100. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, rules, and domain terms.

Keep the course current

Honen's SCORM ZIP is a thin launcher. Update course content in Honen, and the existing Blackboard package loads the current course on the next launch. Re-export the ZIP if you change package settings. SCORM reports completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume data through the browser while the course is open. A closed course cannot send later SCORM updates.

Tutor and reporting

The Honen tutor runs in the launched course. Learners can ask questions about course material. Test the learner view in your Blackboard course. The placement and browser affect embedded and new-window launches.

With LTI, use only the services the institution enables. Honen can post completion or pass/fail through AGS when a compatible grade line item is present. Its progress percentage is coarse. The test-grade option does not send a per-course score. Honen also keeps its own course progress view.

Questions teams ask

Does Blackboard Learn support SCORM 2004?

Yes. Blackboard's SCORM Engine supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 4th Edition when an administrator makes the engine available.

Can Honen send a grade to Blackboard?

It can send supported completion or pass/fail results through a configured LTI AGS line item. SCORM can report while the learner keeps the package open. Test the result in your own gradebook before release.

Does an edit require a new SCORM upload?

A content edit does not. The live package loads current Honen content. A change to package settings can require a new export.

Can Honen use a Blackboard course roster?

Only when the institution grants the LTI membership service and the launch supplies the needed course context. Test roster access with an administrator before you rely on group sync.
