TalentLMS learning analytics: track status and understand learning

Use TalentLMS to check course status. Use Honen to review activity inside the Honen course. The data paths differ for SCORM and cmi5. See Honen for TalentLMS before you set reporting expectations.

Check SCORM results in TalentLMS

TalentLMS's Learning activities report shows SCORM unit completion, progress, failures, training time, and attempts. It can show question analysis when the SCORM file sends that data. If a section is empty, check the authoring tool's tracking settings.

The package sends status, score, time, and resume data during an open SCORM course session. Have a test learner complete and exit the unit. Then inspect the attempt. A final action that does not send a completed or passed status can leave the unit incomplete.

Check cmi5 statements

TalentLMS records cmi5 activity in its LRS and shows it in Reports → Timeline. The Event filter includes xAPI activity types such as completion and failure. Confirm that xAPI is enabled in the portal. Test a package and inspect its events before you rely on a cmi5 report.

Honen can also forward xAPI statements to a customer's LRS through a separate configuration. Do not assume that TalentLMS's cmi5 LRS setup configures that forwarding. Define the endpoint and event mapping, then test both systems.

Use the result to improve the lesson

If many learners fail the same question, check whether the lesson explains the task. Verify the source before you change an answer. Use short sentences, one term for one concept, and one action per instruction. A qualified editor must review controlled-language changes against ASD-STE100 rules and approved domain terms. Then test the revised course result.
