How Honen works with Open edX
Keep Open edX for enrollment and course records. Build the learning content in Honen, then add a launch to an Open edX unit with the LTI Consumer component. A SCORM package is another route when your site operator enables the SCORM XBlock. Discuss your Open edX setup with Honen.
SCORM support alone does not verify Honen's hosted launcher in Open edX. Test the exact ZIP, learner launch, and result in your site before rollout.
Choose the Open edX component

Open edX supports LTI 1.3 through the LTI Consumer XBlock. In Studio, a course team adds it to a unit and exchanges registration values with Honen. The site and component settings control Deep Linking, Assignment and Grade Services (AGS), Names and Role Provisioning Services (NRPS), personal data sharing, and launch display. Publish the unit before testing from the learner LMS. A verified Honen launch can provision a learner and map the Open edX context to a Honen group.
Open edX also documents a SCORM XBlock. It must be enabled before a course can add a SCORM component. The XBlock supports SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Only one SCORM component is allowed per unit.
Draft and review the course

Give Honen approved procedures, slides, and other source material. Draft lessons and checks. Verify every answer before release. Honen can help draft and review controlled-language content inspired by ASD-STE100. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, rules, and domain terms.
Live content, tutor, and records
The Honen tutor runs in the launched course. Test it from a published Open edX unit with a learner account. With LTI, compatible AGS can return Honen completion or pass/fail to a graded component. The result affects the course grade only when the Open edX grading setup permits it.
Honen's progress percentage is coarse. Its test-grade option does not send a per-course score. Open edX documents these AGS conditions.
With SCORM, Honen's thin ZIP loads current Honen content after an edit without another upload. Re-export if package settings change. Completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume updates use the browser while the course is open. Open edX records SCORM state and scores through its XBlock. Honen also keeps its own course progress view.
Questions teams ask
Does Open edX include a SCORM upload path by default?
The course must have an enabled SCORM XBlock. The site operator may need to install or permit it, and Studio must include "scorm" in the Advanced Module List.
Can Honen return a grade over LTI 1.3?
Yes, for supported Honen completion or pass/fail results when AGS is enabled and the Open edX component is graded. A graded subsection is required if the result should affect the course grade.
Can the LTI tool open in the unit page?
Open edX offers Inline, Modal, and New Window display settings. Test the chosen mode with your browser and site policy.
Can I test an LTI launch in Studio preview?
No. Publish the unit and launch it from the learner LMS with a learner account. Open edX does not run the LTI 1.3 launch from Studio preview.
