How Honen works with Moodle
Keep Moodle for your courses and records. Add Honen as an LTI 1.3 external tool, or add a Honen SCORM 1.2 package as a Moodle activity. Moodle documents LTI external tools and native SCORM 1.2 support. Choose the route your administrator can test and approve.
SCORM support alone does not verify Honen's hosted launcher in Moodle. Test the exact ZIP, learner launch, and result in your site before rollout.
Choose a connection

| Route | Use it when | Check before release |
|---|---|---|
| LTI 1.3 | You want a secure tool launch and the LTI services your Moodle site grants | Registration, privacy, roles, roster access, grade return, and launch display |
| SCORM 1.2 | You want a package in a Moodle course | Completion, score, time, resume, and browser behavior |
For LTI, an administrator registers Honen as an external tool. Moodle's registration screen lets the administrator review privacy and services before activation. A teacher then adds the tool as a course activity. Moodle explains this flow. Grade return, membership data, and embedded display depend on the enabled services and tool settings. Test them in your site.
For SCORM, export a Honen SCORM 1.2 ZIP and add a SCORM Package activity. Moodle does not natively support SCORM 2004. Read Moodle's SCORM FAQ. Moodle does not offer native cmi5 launch in the documented core path; a third-party plugin and separate validation would be needed.
Build a course and review its language

Give Honen approved documents, slides, or video. It can draft lessons, knowledge checks, and a tutor experience. Check every fact, example, link, and assessment answer before release. For a technical procedure, use short, active sentences. Put one action in each step. Use the same term for the same thing.
Honen can help draft and review this controlled-language style. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, ASD-STE100 rules, and domain terms.
Update and track the course
With the SCORM route, Honen's thin live package loads current approved content when a learner opens it. A later launch can show a revised course without a new ZIP upload. Test a material change before rollout. The open SCORM session can report completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume data; it does not send grades after the learner closes it.
With LTI 1.3, the Honen course and tutor run through the external-tool launch. LTI services can provide roster and role information and server-to-server grade return when enabled. Verify the actual Moodle permissions and gradebook result. Use Honen for course-level progress and mastery review. Plan xAPI forwarding only if you have a separate LRS.
Common questions
Should I use LTI or SCORM with Moodle?
Use LTI when your site can register the tool and grant the services you need. Use SCORM 1.2 when a packaged activity fits your process. Test either route before assigning learners.
Does Moodle support SCORM 2004?
Moodle's core SCORM player does not support SCORM 2004. Export SCORM 1.2 for the native activity.
Can the Honen tutor run inside Moodle?
The tutor runs within the launched Honen course. Moodle can display an LTI tool within an activity page when the launch setting and browser permit it. Test the learner view in your site.
Do Honen edits require a fresh SCORM ZIP?
The live package loads current content on a new launch. Review and test changes before learners return.
