How Honen works with Absorb LMS

Keep Absorb LMS for enrollment and records. Build the course in Honen, then deliver it as a SCORM package or an LTI 1.3 external tool. Absorb accepts SCORM 1.2 and 2004 and documents LTI 1.3 Consumer Mode.

For SCORM, export the Honen ZIP and import it as a third-party course or add it as a learning object in an online course. Absorb says the package must not contain multiple SCOs or unsupported external content URLs. Absorb does not officially support general dispatch packages, and Honen's thin package needs a portal test before assignment. A successful upload alone does not prove that it will launch or report. Absorb gives both upload routes and dispatch limits.

For LTI, register Honen with its LTI 1.3 details. Absorb says Consumer Mode is enabled by default in portals; ask Absorb Support if LTI Registration is missing. Absorb lists Core launch, Assignment and Grade Services, and Deep Linking. Its help article also says administrator and learner accounts at the tool provider must use the same email as their Absorb accounts. Validate Honen's registration and account setup in your portal; do not assume a generic LTI connection grants roster or group access.

Give Honen approved documents, slides, or video. Use it to draft lessons, checks, and tutor prompts. Check facts, policy dates, examples, and answer keys before release. For technical procedures, use short, active sentences and one action per step. Use a consistent term for each part.

Honen helps draft and review controlled-language content. A qualified editor must check the approved dictionary, ASD-STE100 rules, and domain terms.

Update and track

Where a portal accepts the thin package, Honen loads current approved content on a later launch without a new ZIP upload. Test that behavior before release and re-test material edits. During an open SCORM session, the package can report completion, pass/fail, score, time, and resume data. It does not send server-to-server grades after the learner closes the course. Absorb documents its supported SCORM data.

An LTI 1.3 launch can run the Honen course and tutor within the external-tool experience. Absorb documents AGS grade and completion sync. Confirm that the service and gradebook behavior work with the Honen tool registration in your portal. Use Honen for topic mastery and course progress review, and Absorb for official enrollment records.

Common questions

Does Absorb accept SCORM 2004?

Yes. Absorb documents both SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Select the matching format during import and test the result.

Can a Honen course update without another ZIP?

It can where the portal accepts the thin package. Absorb does not officially support general dispatch packages, so verify launch and reporting in your portal before relying on updates.

Does Absorb support LTI 1.3 grades?

Absorb lists Assignment and Grade Services for its LTI 1.3 Consumer Mode. Test grade return for the specific Honen registration and course.

Does LTI automatically share the roster and groups?

Do not assume that. Absorb's listed services do not establish Names and Role Provisioning for the Honen connection. Check the permissions and data actually shared.

Does Honen certify ASD-STE100 writing?

No. It helps draft and review clear content. A qualified editor checks the controlled-language requirements.
