Compliance training content for HealthStream HLC
Use Honen to draft a staff procedure lesson from an approved policy. Review it with the clinical and compliance owners. Then test the SCORM course in HLC. See Honen with HealthStream for the delivery route.
Define the evidence before authoring

List what the record must show: completion, a passing test, an attestation, or observed skill. HLC tracks assignments and training reports, but each record serves a different purpose. Decide which report an auditor will use. Test whether a SCORM result appears in that report before you assign the course. Ask your HLC administrator about a separate assessment if the report needs one.
Write the lesson and the assessment from the same approved policy version. Map each question to a task or decision in that policy. Keep a separate list of the evidence needed for assignment, test pass, and observed skill. This helps reviewers find a gap before staff receive the course.
For a medication handling lesson, supply the current policy and approved drug names. Ask Honen for short, active steps with one action each. A clinical reviewer must verify doses, contraindications, and escalation. A qualified editor must check the ASD-STE100 rules, approved dictionary, and domain terms.
Test the assigned path
HealthStream confirms that organizations upload self-authored SCORM packages to its Authoring Center. Ask your administrator for the current tenant settings. Run the assigned course as a learner and inspect the record your auditor will use. Test a failed assessment as well as a pass. Check that an incomplete activity does not satisfy the assignment.
If you use Honen's live package, verify the external launch and later content updates in HLC. A later content change alone does not show that an employee completed revised training. When the policy changes, decide with the compliance owner whether staff need a new assignment or attestation.
