Start Teaching with Moodle

A practical walkthrough of Moodle for teachers who are new to the platform and need to get a course up and running without guessing their way through it.

About this course

Most people who sit down in Moodle for the first time spend the first hour clicking things and hoping for the best. The interface has a logic to it, but nobody shows you what that logic is. This course does that. You'll start by learning how Moodle is organized, from the top navigation to the Course index, so you can move around without getting lost. Then you'll work through the things a teacher actually needs to do: set up a course, add content, manage sections, and give learners access. Each unit builds on the last. By the time you reach enrolment, you've already handled the course structure, the content, and the layout. Nothing is introduced before you need it. The course covers the Boost theme, the TinyMCE editor, course formats like weekly and custom sections, blocks, and the Participants panel. If your admin has locked down certain settings, you'll learn to recognize which things are in your control and which require a conversation with IT. You'll finish with a clear sequence: from a blank course to something a learner can actually open and use. That's the goal. Not a full tour of every feature Moodle has ever shipped, but a working knowledge of the parts that matter on day one of teaching.
